The Double Staple Ranch has roots that run deep. For five generations the Lewis family has been raising quality Quarter Horses and striving to better our horsemanship and lifemanship. We feel incredibly lucky to live in this unique and beautiful place and do what we love. THE BROODMARES
Our band is made up of extremely well bred, athletic broodmares with big hearts and great minds. We all know that a great foal starts and ends with a great mom.
THE YOUNG GUNS
We’re proud of our youngsters. Their breeding has been carefully chosen and they are born in the natural setting we provide here at the ranch. They grow up in a herd, in large pastures, where they learn social skills, herd dynamics, how to adapt and regulate themselves, how to navigate rocky trails and how to be independent and confident. They are then given an education built on trust and connection. This kind of upbringing creates a partner for life. We have weanlings, yearlings, and young horses in all different stages of education.
JIM LEWIS
Born and raised on the Lewis Ranch in Patagonia, Az, Jimmy is the backbone of the plans and dreams that carry the Double Staple Ranch forward. His love for fast horses, his never-ending research for better bloodlines, and his perseverance in following his heart is the roadmap we have used to build this ranch.
DAWN LEWIS
Dawn's immense love for horses started at an early age and has never diminished, only grown. Her love of barrel racing matches well with her husband, Jimmy's love of fast horses. Dawn is a seeker of knowledge and wisdom and is constantly learning better ways to partner with her horses.
KASEY LEWIS
Kasey was born and raised on The Double Staple Ranch and is a perfect example of J.R.R. Tolken's words 'Not all those who wander are lost'. His path has taken him all over the world, but his roots have always run deep in Patagonia and the ranch. Kasey brings leadership skills acquired in the Navy, legal skills acquired in Law School, and a love for fairness and justice to all things he does here at the ranch.
KAYLA LEWIS-SIMPSON
Kayla was born and raised on the Double Staple Ranch. Her love for this ranch has always created roots that run deep but her love of travel and adventure have also given her wings to fly. Her rodeo career, her artistic photographer's eye, her business ventures and her love of always trying new things have taken her down many different paths. Her ability to create a place, a conversation, a feeling that makes horses and people alike feel seen and valued is what makes this ranch special.
BO SIMPSON
Bo was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. He grew up ranching and rodeoing. He joined The Double Staple Ranch when he and Kayla were married. His engineering skills, ranch managing skills and cowboy grit are invaluable and his ability to get things done is legendary here at the ranch.
